I’d like to introduce you to Lee Abbamonte, Travel Goal Getter Member and the proud holder of the title “Youngest American to Travel to Every Country in the World”. His story may sound familiar; he has appeared in hundreds of various media outlets and makes regular appearances on the Fox News Channel. Lee describes himself as a travel writer, travel expert, travel television personality, and global adventurer. We are proud to have him as a member of our community.
You may be asking yourself, just how many countries is “every country in the world”? The answer to this question is not straight forward since different organizations use unique metrics for defining a “country”. Lee uses the United Nations list of member states which recognizes 193 sovereign nations. However, his travels do not stop at 193 countries. Lee is attempting to become the youngest member of the Travelers Century Club which is a highly exclusive club of travelers who have visited 321 unique countries and territories of the world that not only includes countries, but areas of the world that are removed from the parent country either geographically, politically, or ethnologically. Only 14 countries and territories remain until Lee reaches 321.
As expected with someone who has traveled as extensively as Lee, he has had some very unique, if not dangerous experiences. He dodged bullets in the Libyan civil war, tracked gorillas in Rwanda, and has visited some extremely remote and difficult to reach parts of the world such as Pitcairn Island (pictured above).
Through his world travels and adventures his beliefs remain the same; “I believe in globalization of everything including people. I believe that I am a citizen of Earth. I believe that people around the world are at their core, basically good and the same. I believe that more people should experience the world and the way traveling can open their eyes and minds to different and exciting things. I believe in just being myself. I believe in life.” – Lee Abbamonte
